Mining and processing of ores involves various stages of purification. Frequently, this processing involves thermal, chemical, or mechanical treatment with resultant atmospheric exhaust of solids, mist, or vapors
which must be abated for environmental reasons. The abatement results in collection and recapture of materials of value that can be returned for reprocessing. Because emissions frequently involve combinations of materials such as particulate and acid vapors capturing of these into liquid is a common practice. Technology to achieve this is generally called “SCRUBBING”. The material being captured is usually carried in an air stream. Particulate from gas removal using liquid requires four important
stages:
1) Humidification to the gas dew point.
2) Creation of droplets.
3) Impingement and transfer of the particulate into droplets.
4) Separation of droplet from gas (mist elimination).
