Product Details

In January of 2011, the President signed into law Senate Bill 3874 and created the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act.

This legislation amended the Safe Drinking Water Act to reduce the allowable lead content in all products in contact with drinking water from 8.0% to 0.25% (weighted average).

This means all companies must use no-lead brass for products contacting potable water.

Although states may adopt an earlier timeline, the new national law goes into effect on January 4, 2014.

Not only does this mean products manufactured for potable water applications from current 85-5-5-5 brass will no longer be produced or sold, they can no longer be installed.

How can you prepare for the new legislation? Since all current waterworks brass inventory becomes obsolete and can not be installed or sold after January 4, 2014 (unless your state adopts an earlier deadline), begin planning now to deplete your current brass inventory, and replace with Ford no-lead brass products.
