Acromag Modules Receive ATEX Zone 2 Certification
Acromag expands their signal conditioning and Ethernet Remote I/O offering in the European Union with the addition of ATEX hazardous location certification.
Acromag recently announced their TT Transmitter Series, BusWorks® XT Ethernet I/O Series, and XTA Optocoupler and Mechanical Relay Series received ATEX Zone 2 Certification. The ATEX Hazardous Location Certification is an EU equipment requirement for potentially explosive atmospheres. A potentially explosive atmosphere exists when a mixture of air gases, vapors, mists, or dusts combine in a way that can ignite under certain operating conditions.
Acromag’s TT Transmitter Series isolate, amplify, filter, condition, and convert measured signals from sensors and other instruments to interface with PLC, DCS, display, recorder, or other process control instrumentation. The BusWorks® XT Series provides a remote I/O interface between sensors and actuators to controllers on Ethernet, Modbus, or Profibus networks. Many of these I/O modules are used in manufacturing, water services, power generation, mining, defense, and transportation where safety is a major concern.
“The addition of ATEX Zone 2 certification complements our existing UL/cUL Class 1 Div2 approvals,” stated Robert Greenfield, Acromag’s marketing & sales director. “Now engineers have more cost-effective I/O solutions available for use in hazardous location applications across Europe, USA, Canada, and many other nations following these safety standards.
Acromag has designed and manufactured measurement and control products for more than 50 years. With a headquarters near Detroit, Michigan and a global network of sales representatives and distributors, Acromag products are sold worldwide. They offer a complete line of industrial I/O products including process instruments, signal conditioning equipment, data acquisition boards, distributed I/O modules, and network communication devices.
