Water Softeners

Pure Aqua’s water softeners treat the water by removing hardness using resin. The resin replaces the hardness in the water with salt, which is regenerated periodically. The softened water can then pass through an RO system to remove the salt without the risk of scaling. Softeners can be used in commercial, industrial and municipal applications. Water softening, or conditioning, is an important process because the hardness of water in different applications is reduced during this process. When water is hard, it can clog pipes, as well as damage boilers and heat exchangers. Hard water causes higher risk of lime scale deposits in industrial, commercial, and household water systems. Due to the lime scale build-up, pipes are blocked and the efficiency of hot boilers and tanks is reduced. This increases the cost of domestic water heating by about fifteen to twenty percent.

Softeners mainly remove calcium and magnesium ions, which are referred to as hardness minerals. Softeners can operate automatically, semi-automatically, and manually. Each type is rated on the amount of hardness it can remove before regeneration is necessary.
